Hebrew Poetry – Your Response

September 16, 2014 | Creative Expression | no comments

This blog entry is dedicated to family and friends who serve in the Australian Armed Forces.

When one reads the poetry of the old testament, one can see a very strong literary tool that is used consistently.  Whereas in western verse, we rhyme sounds, in Hebrew poetry they rhymed or matched ideas.

Keeping that in mind, have a look at my favourite Psalm at the moment, Psalm 144.

Blessed by the Lord my Rock  One line gives the statement – “He is my loving God and my fortress,” and the next gives more detail and a richer understanding of the first line by showing it from a different perspective – “my stronghold and my deliverer.”

I can’t help but think that this is very similar to how our creative giftings are meant to manifest.  A truth or a situation or circumstance is presented in life and in response, our painting, our landscape photo, our play, our song, our dance, our story… echoes a response that enables all of us to have a greater understanding and a deeper emotional reverberation.

Without your creative work, people are robbed of that discernment and wisdom for their mind as well as the fervor and warmth for their souls.

Why not create something and share it now?
Influence our culture!

Ever changing; Thy Kingdom come
